I've got a riddle!
Question: What does internet marketing and the Great Wall of China have to do with each other?
Answer: To cross the road!
Okay, I'm obviously having too much fun with this article! But really, what does internet marketing and the Wall have to do with each other?
The Wall was built, brick-by-brick, and that's how you have to build an internet marketing career--brick-by-brick, webpage-by-webpage, email-by-email, however you want to say it.
I've never seen the Great Wall except in pictures. I've had friends describe it to me. It's apparently breathtaking! A true feat of human ingenuity and persistence.
The same could be said of the income of any internet marketing guru.
How would you like to make $500,000 a year!
Well, to most folks that would be breathtaking! But it can be done. It's being done each and every day by normal people. Now, to be fair, these folks didn't start marketing yesterday, or even last year, but other than that, there's no real difference between them and you.
There's no reason why you can't enjoy this level of success, if you start now. You just need to find a method and start working it.
One of the most important things you can do is to build a list!
I made the mistake of not building a list for almost a year. I shudder when I think how much money I've lost by not having those contacts to sell to again and again.
Build a list of people who are passionate about something you are passionate about. Take care of your list by sending them information from time to time. Then just ask them what they need to learn in order to achieve their goals.
Bam!
You have identified your first information product!
Now, if you already know enough about the answer to your list's question, just go ahead and make a product for them--an ebook, an e-course, a home study course, or a coaching arrangement.
If you don't know the answer to their question, spend a little money and research the answer--then make the product.
As you get closer and closer to launching your product, email you list and advertise it at a reduced price for the first hundred, or fifty, or twenty, or ten buyers. (Depends on the size of your list.)
Then...raise the price and launch the product.
Sit back and watch the money flow into your bank account! (My favorite part!)
